What constitutes "The Siemens Spirit"?

What constitutes "The Siemens Spirit"?

Postby DireWolf » Thu Mar 02, 2017 1:26pm

I've recently been wondering this... We all love Siemens phones, but what makes them so special to us? Is it the design, the specs, the UI, the feel, something else?

It would be something interesting to define, so that we know what to find in other phones, and to know what to include in future phones.

- unmistakeable yet beautiful and elegant design
- UI/platform (S-gold, BREW etc.)
- x65 file manager and its capability of sending *.jar apps and games
- well-designed original boxes - especially x65 and x75... I simply love that they share the same design style, just colours and model name/photos are different
- MEMORIES

:-)
S68 Ceramic - S65 125 Jahre - S65 Chromium
SXG75 - S75 - EF81 - E71 - M81 - S68 - SL75 - M75 - ME75 - M65 - CX75 - CX65 - SK65 - AX75

Uh... that would nowadays be very hard, if not impossible... :tard:

LinDan wrote:- unmistakeable yet beautiful and elegant design

All phones now are black rectangles, with only tiny design details.

LinDan wrote:- UI/platform (S-gold, BREW etc.)

All (mass-desired) phones now run either Android, iOS or Windows Phone.

LinDan wrote:- x65 file manager and its capability of sending *.jar apps and games

That's moot now, with app stores, sideloading and file managers.

LinDan wrote:- well-designed original boxes - especially x65 and x75... I simply love that they share the same design style, just colours and model name/photos are different

Now that's something that could implemented nowadays.

Isn't that an end and not a means?

I think I've overlooked this part, pardon me. All described above is what makes past phones by Siemens so unique to me. :) The future belongs to Apple, Samsung and Chinese brands (Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo etc.), no need to imitate Siemens. Phones by Siemens that I love(d) are still living with me as a part of my collection. 8)
