need new cover for ef 81

Postby Sarah » Mon Jun 25, 2012 9:31pm

Hi guys
I had an ef 81 since 2006 but I haven't used it for more than 5 years now I was going to start using it again but I'll need to change the cover cause it's scratchy and the lead coil seems to be not functional.
I searched ebay but couldn't find anything good,
any ideas where I can find one?
and is fw 58 still the lates firmware?
and do you have a battery recomendation?

At this point, I'm afraid eBay or other similar auction sites is really the only option. :( You may try finding dead phones with exteriors in good shape to act as "organ donors", as they might be cheaper than fully-good-condition phones.

As for FW, I'm not sure but I think 58 is still the newest.

many times on ebay, there are complete housings in perfect shape.
it is the matter to see the total price of the housing, compared to a new ef81. There is the siemensplanet member, NoviS that have a bunch of EF81's new (still have all the protective plastics on the housing) and he sells them cheap.

Yes, FW58 was the very last one to be developed. About batteries... Well, once again on ebay there are lots of them. Beware of the cheapest ones, many don't have enough quality.

Thanks , Sand  .

Sarah: I can offer you a brand new, fully functional EF81. Unfortunately without battery. What price would be good for you?

I´m deeply sorry for delay, I was a bit busier than usual... :-|

The price of fully functional EF81, like new, with foils on both displays and outer metal cover, without battery is 30 € + shipping costs.

I have no problem with sending it to Finland, but I just don´t know how much would it cost.

Unfortunately I don´t have any EF91... here in czech republic, very few people have it... I would be glad for just one for my collection :) .

At this moment, I don´t have any other benq-siemens phones for sale. Only EF81 and some older Siemens phones, MT50, A70 etc. In general, I´m mainly a collector - I only sell phones when I have more than one copy of each model. Maybe I can get one C81, fully functional, new, without battery. If you´re interested, I´ll ask for it, one guy have been selling them here cheap for some time.

Paypal... eh, actually I don´t know ... I haven´t got any experience with it.

There is already the latest version of fw in the EF81 ( 58 ), and since the phone haven´t been used (very probably) there is no reason for flashing it.

If you want a charger, you´ll get one.

Seems that battery went under deep discharge mode.
We have two options.
Ootion one, plug it to the charger, let it there for 12 hours, unplug, remove the battery for 5 minutes, place battery back and plug te charger again
or:
Option two: Be cautious, please, with a old charger with the plug ripped, place the positive wire on the battery positive terminal, and the negative wire on the negative terminal, for a brief time.
Measure the voltage with a multimeter. When it reaches around 3, 3.3V you can charge normally on the phone.

The positive terminal of the battery shall have a + sign near it, and the negative, a - sign. The middle terminal is always the ground.

If the battery doesn't have the + and - sign, pick up a multimeter, and connect the red wire to one terminal and the black wire to another terminal.
on multimeters, the red is positive, and the black is negative.

If the voltage reading shows in positive numbers, then the place you connected the red, is the positive terminal.
If the multimeter voltage reading shows a negative value (-3.2) then you connected the red wire on the negative terminal.
