Painting my EF81

Painting my EF81

Postby TB » Sat Mar 06, 2010 5:45pm

Hey there guys :D
So here is the thing, my EF81 has some peeling zones lool and I was to paint that, but the problem is I don't know which color to use :S

Some days ago I bought a Gray spray, because the color looked like it was the correct one for me, but it isn't, it's way lighter than what I was looking for. And besides, the color of the phone has some sort of brillants I guess, and I don't know were can I find it :S Could you help me?

To be easier for those who don't know the phone but might know the color, here is a pic. It's that color all around the loudspeaker.

Thanks in advance

it is nearly impossible to match the color with those sprays...
or you spray it all, or you take the phone to a paint house and ask them to mix paints until they match the gradient of the phone

Could be a spray or something else, it's just to protect it from getting worse. But thanks for the reply, I'll search for it. Right now I'm using other phone, to preserve my EF81 :P

Back to this topic...
Some months ago I found a cover on eBay, original, new, including the speakers etc etc, so I bought it and replaced it. But, with the old cover, I decided to make some experiments eheheh took the speakers out, and painted it, getting inspiration from its successor, EF82 (I don't have one, sadly). The result is not awesome, but I think it's good, check it out:

Is it the black part you painted? I think it looks alright :)
Would the paint stand daily usage?

Yes, this is the part I painted xD it looks a bit, don't know, bad in the photo, but I assure that it looks very good in the reality lool don't know how I actually managed to make such a thing, as usually the things I try to paint always end up a s*** LOL

about the daily usage, honestly, I don't know... maybe yes? but anyway, I'm feeling very tempted to switch the cover to this one LOOL I just don't 'cause just by taking the cover off it would peel -.- it's stupid, I don't know what paint they used to paint the EF81, but it peels so easily!

Well, here is a test:

It's looks good so far!

About my EF81: The painting only peeled off on the corners after 0.5-1 year of daily usage.

This new cover I have it since June I think... didn't know you had an EF81 :D cool ^^ the sound quality is something great, isn't it? I mean, even comparing to those recent touchscreens from Nokia (like this one http://seidimobile.com.br/wp-content/up ... ic_red.jpg), I think the EF81 is better, and yet the EF81 is from 2006 :O

It's been a while since I used the EF81, but I remember that the sound was good, although it could be louder so it would be better suited in noisy environments.

Yeah :D I would love to test an EF82. It is supposed to have some sound improvements, right? And it has 3D Sound, too... (don't know if that's any good).

Really, 3d sound on EF82? Source/link?
Imagine having a surrond ringtone that makes it sound like the mobile is everywhere around you, so you can't fint it.

Really, really :D LOL I mean, i don't know if it's any good, because the S88 also has it (I have a S88 as well) and is nothing special. Also, at least in S88, you can only activate it when using the Media Player. Yeah, it sounds a bit like surround, but, when activated, the sound becomes lower...

The source is a YouTube video of someone testing a prototype. In the options, on the Media Player, there is one that says 3D-Sound or something.

NOTE: I don't think it's a real surround, I just called it that way 'cause in a BenQ-Siemens EF91 spot, they call it 3D Surround Sound (check it here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U11dqLkY-E , second 0:37).

About that feature in EF82, here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKU7Y92j9p0 (minute 1:21)

It was built to have surround, but unfortunately I don't remember all EF82 specs.

Your paintjob is cool so far :D
Very good indeed.
I can't say the same about my gold SL45i now. :bleh:
