'today's tech lesson:
If your 10 years old phone, suddenly shuts down on you, even with a new battery, and won't give any signal on the power button, or when your charger is connected, will you creep out_?

simply, open your phone.
Take in mind, the model affected by this, is a very rugged Siemens M35i (First units on sale in the year 2000), shock and water proofed, a true war tank with 10 years.

You need to take out all water the sealing plugs, and with special tweezers (i had to use 2 scissors and a knife) open it.
Be careful to dot damage inner water sealing of the cage, neither peripheral components!

The good thing of old phones, is that besides very strong, they are easy to fix. just take away the connector that links the battery, and the printed circuit board (PCB)
After 10 years in heavy usage, some contacts starts to become oxide, and dirty. Clean every contact with a Q-tip with a bit of alcohol, and if needed, pull a bit the metallic bits from the connector that link to the pcb and battery.

Assemble again, carefully, and place correctly the rubber seals from the inner part of the cage, to avoid damage.
Close slowly from the bottom to the top.

Place the battery again, and power on.
Voilą! Ready for more 10 years!

Way kewl, brewtha! Cool My only fear for high-longevity portable devices is finding compatible batteries after their intended device went out of production long ago... this is something looming threateningly over my Wibrain UMPC.

that's true, I was lucky to get a bunch of 3 batteries for my x35 series Smile
curious stuff, I have FW24 I installed when I got this phone, tried to downgrade to 18 for some patchings, but never turn on after the downgrade, need to reload again the 24. *lol*
