|
|
Is it not possible to browse the web using C55? The mobile itself can connect to the Internet via GPRS... So doesn't it automatically mean that it has a GPRS modem that can be used by the PC? I can connect my CX75 and surf the net from my PC using it's GPRS modem easily. It connects through USB.
I have a COM cable for my C55 and every application for it runs smoothly. But when I am using the GPRS Modem Assistant for this phone, it says no GPRS modem could be detected. The port settings are correct. Where am I going wrong? |

Probably your cable is one generic com cable, and that kind of cables don't support GPRS connection. _________________ Feel the storm power

Could it be that the HTTP setting in the phone is incorrect? Browsing through the phone, it connects via WAP, but, through the computer, HTTP is used instead. Maybe you need to correct the HTTP settings? Anyway, the C55 can be used as a GPRS modem AFAIK. _________________

DW, he his using the GPRS assistant, but it can't find the phone as modem, so, the problem might be on cable.
The http settings, GPRS assistant have the correct ones, for example, i can browse w\ TMN and Vodafone the net. Just need to change the providor in the list.
The GPRS assistant don't use the setting os the phone, but yes the ones stored on the program.
Ther phone only need to be recognized in the network. _________________ Feel the storm power

Hmm, good point. In that case, my vote goes for generic COM cable as well.
Does it have a label "Siemens RS-232 IP40" on the serial plug? My original DCA-500 has it. _________________

You guys are really wonderful... Give answers in no time!
The problem is not in configuration... I've selected the correct COM port, and all other programs work with it. The GPRS modem assistant simply can't find the device (the first step).
I just pulled out the COM adapter. (I was too lazy to shutdown the system, can it do any harm!? I thought since the phone was not connected it'll be okay... But the cable could have some "active" connections in itself?). There's nothing written on it. It's a cheap chinese clone. Will the original USB cable do? I don't have it and it might not be worthwhile to buy it...
May be SandStorm is right... This cable won't do.
By the way, Siemens Quick EEPROM Features worked fine with the cable... But then again, it's only data manipulation... |

Indeed, the cable seems to be data-only. You'll have to either build one or buy an original one.

Serial is the kind of plug whose unplugging with power on can be harmful. You may be lucky if nothing got damaged, but don't do it too often! Other such plugs are PS-2, and obviously power. "Safe" plugs are USB, parallel, VGA, phone (RJ11), ethernet (RJ45), Firewire, PCMCIA, audio, S-Video, RCA, and joystick. _________________

Yes, the original cables allways do.
I have one serial generic cable for M55, and it only work w\ his Data Suite. About GPRS, just don't go.
Currently w\ one original cable, I can use the phones as modem.
So, you can trust on any original cable.
Just remember, for your C55, only the Serial DCA500 or the USB DCA510. (it have one box w\ 1 switch that control the charging) _________________ Feel the storm power
